Education in Faith

At St Joseph’s we follow the teachings and examples of Jesus’ life as portrayed in the Gospels by developing the students’ relationship with God, with others and with themselves.

Religious Education permeates our total curriculum. The Religious Education Curriculum Framework, has three strands of learning: (Knowledge and Understanding; Reasoning and Responding; Personal and Communal Engagement) and five content areas: (Jesus and Scripture; Church and Community; God, Religion and Life; Prayer, Liturgy and Sacrament; Morality and Justice).

Engaging in this learning students explain, interpret and reflect on the Catholic faith, traditions and teachings of the Church. They develop the ability to respond to these teachings in their lives and the world.

Students participate in the preparation and celebration of a variety of liturgies including, class prayer, non-Eucharistic liturgies, level masses, reconciliation, meditation and whole school masses. All students actively participate in the sacramental programs of Reconciliation and Eucharist in Years 3 and 4, and Confirmation in Years 5 and 6.
