FAITH LEARNING

Religious Education

Faith in Action, Learning for Life

At St Joseph’s, we share Jesus’ message of God’s love in everything we do. Our Religious Education program helps students grow in faith, deepen their relationship with God, and see how the teachings of Jesus guide their lives today.

Living Our Faith

  • Scripture and Prayer: Students explore the stories and wisdom of the Bible and connect them to everyday life.

  • Liturgy and Celebration: We come together in prayer, Mass and reflection to celebrate our faith as a community.

Social Justice in Action: Inspired by Gospel values, students show love, respect, compassion and service through outreach and care for others.

CATHOLIC EDUCATION

Curriculum

Religious Education is taught with the same care and academic focus as all learning areas. Guided by MACS Religious Education Curriculum Framework, students are encouraged to wonder, question and discover — developing understanding of both the Catholic faith and other faith traditions.

We aim to nurture children who are spiritually aware, socially responsible, and filled with hope for the future.

Prayer

Prayer is an important part of daily life at St Joseph’s. Students experience prayer in many ways — through words, song, silence and reflection. Both formal and informal prayers are taught and explored, with opportunities for contemplation and journaling.

Beautiful prayer spaces, both indoors and outdoors, invite students to pause, connect with God and find moments of peace throughout the school day.

HOLY JOURNEY

Sacraments

At St Joseph’s, every child from Prep to Year 6 takes part in our Sacramental Program. From their very first year, students learn about the Sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation, deepening their understanding as they grow in faith.

Children who are baptised are invited to receive the Sacraments as part of their ongoing faith journey:

Year 3: Sacrament of Penance (Reconciliation)

Year 4: Sacrament of Eucharist (First Communion)

Year 6: Sacrament of Confirmation

To support families, we hold family activity evenings that help parents and children prepare together for each Sacrament — strengthening the partnership between home, school and parish.
