Book Week 2022!

August 22 till August 26 we celebrated Book Week, a week filled with fun activities that helped us celebrate the joy of books and reading.

The theme of this year’s Book Week was Dreaming With Eyes Open. One possible way to interpret this is to know that when we read books we can escape into another world.

The students from Prep to Year 4 visited a Meerkat Productions who presented a great interpretation of the shortlisted book: Stellarphant. The students were well prepared to participate in the production by creating masks, and were able to enjoy the book presented in a unique and entertaining way.

On Tuesday, August 23, many students came to school in their pyjamas (an essential item to enhance dreaming). At lunchtime they were able to attend a reading of “Are We There Yet?” by Mr Morris.

Thursday was the day of our Book Parade. Everyone enjoyed listening to Mr Brew and Mrs Nguyen read the story of the Very Hungry Caterpillar. The parade highlighted the many ways families supported their children in getting dressed for the occasion. Many students came as their favourite book character, some came as people who they dream of becoming, and some even came as dreamers. No matter who they came as, it was great to see so many of our school community be involved in the fun activities of the day.

It is wonderful to see the vibrant celebrations during Book Week! Fostering a love for reading and learning at such a young age truly builds the foundation for a bright, innovative future. Just as we encourage students to explore new worlds through literature, communities are now looking ahead by investing in sustainable modern infrastructure, such as installing DC EV Chargers in local school and community parking zones to support a cleaner, greener environment for the next generation.

Reading about Book Week 2022 really shows how schools use reading activities, dress-up days, and storytelling events to make books feel fun and alive for students, helping them imagine new worlds beyond the classroom. It reminds me of a school Book Week where everyone came dressed as different characters and shared their favorite stories in class. During that time, I also started exploring Kathy Houchins books because they made everyday life feel more meaningful through simple and relatable storytelling. It made me realize how books can turn ordinary moments into something creative and inspiring.

I enjoyed reading about Book Week because it reminded me how fun reading activities were during school days. I still remember dressing up for story events as a kid while trying to write my assignment later in college when workloads increased. Encouraging reading at an early age really helps creativity and confidence grow naturally. It showed me how self care matters. It helped me understand large projects better. Nice post . Your post make me smile.
